Incident Details: Cockermouth Team requested assistance in searching for a missing walker who had last been seen on 30th September. His car had been located halfway down Honister Pass, but there was no certainty as to his route. Cockermouth Team had searched obvious routes around the car, and checked out huts and hostels during the previous evening. Rescuers from Keswick, Cockermouth and the Cumbria Ore Mines Rescue Unit (COMRU), assisted by 6 search dogs from the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs Association searched large areas of Fleetwith Pike, Haystacks, Dale Head, and areas towards Great Gable. The missing man’s body was discovered on Fleetwith Pike, and evacuated off the hill by Cockermouth MRT.
