A young couple had a very early start to catch the sunrise from Blencathra and to avoid the rain forecast for later in the morning. On the descent the woman slipped and tripped going over badly on her ankle. The team sent one vehicle from base with other team members going direct. Analgesia was provided to ease the considerable pain before the woman’s ankle was splinted. The mostly grassy slopes of Blease Fell allowed a mostly sledging descent with the stretcher back to the car park.
