Such is the random nature of mountain rescue – you don’t visit somewhere in years, decades even, then twice within the space of a week. A man out on a multi-day hiking/camping adventure descending towards St John’s in the Vale from Calfhow Pike lost the path and found himself on steep ground in a scree/gorse/bramble/bracken combo nightmare. Unable to find a safe way out he called for a rescue. A Phone Find alongside very recently gained local knowledge, and aided by the man’s whistles, allowed the team to jungle-bash up, locate the very grateful man and guide him down to safety.
