Agencies Involved: Keswick MRT, Coastguard helicopter R199, GNAAS

Whilst descending Great Gable towards Windy Gap a man slipped and took a 10m tumbling fall causing head and back injuries. After being alerted Keswick team requested support from Helimed 58 and Coastguard 199. As Keswick team were making their way from Honister Helimed 58 approached but due to weather conditions could not land. Later as team members arrived at the scene R199 arrived and landed on nearby Green Gable. The injured man was provided some pain relief and packaged in a vacuum mattress. The man was then carried by stretcher down some awkward rocky steps and up to the helicopter for an airlift to hospital.

Many thanks to the passing walker who stayed with the casualty and to R199 and Helimed 58.
