After weeks of sunshine it felt odd to be back in full Goretex with the return of heavy but much needed rain. Unfortunately a wet rocky path caused a man to slip and injure his ankle whilst descending Helvellyn to Swirls. Members of his walking group used their bivouac shelter to keep their colleague as warm as possible whilst Keswick team made their way up the hill. After some pain relief, an ankle reduction and splinting, the man was stretchered and sledged down to the car park where his friends transported him to hospital.
