Whilst descending White Side towards Thirlmere, a man injured his ankle and was struggling to weight bear. Unable to continue the journey, his friend contacted Cumbria Police to request assistance. Keswick team members made their way to the casualty, once an exact location had been established. On scene, the man’s ankle was assessed, splinted and pain relief given. He was then packaged for a stretcher sledge and carry down the fell for onward transport to hospital in his friend’s vehicle.
