A female walker was descending near the summit of Catbells with her sister. Sensibly facing into the slope to down climb on the steep section, her foot unfortunately slipped and she ended up bashing her face into the rocky slope and sliding a short distance. The Great North Air Ambulance were quickly on scene, landing just along the ridge, and assessed the woman. Fortunately her injuries, whilst looking bad and undoubtedly painful, were superficial and she was deemed well enough to walk down with assistance from rescue team members. Once at the bottom the woman was taken to hospital by her sister.
