A 78 year old female slipped and fell whilst climbing up the steep east side of Castlehead landing on her back leaving her in a lot of pain and unable to continue. Being close to the base the team were on hand quickly. A team doctor supervised a less experienced team member whilst they did an assessment, all useful learning. Some pain relief was given before a stretcher carry to the road. The woman was taken to the Cottage hospital in Keswick so she could be looked after whilst waiting for an ambulance for onward transfer to Carlisle or Whitehaven hospital.
