The iPhone emergency relay centre made contact via the North West Ambulance Service after an iPhone satellite SOS was triggered. A woman had slipped and injured her ankle whilst descending Aaron Slack – a mobile phone black spot. The co-ordinates provided by the iPhone relay centre were accurate and the team made their to the casualty location. After some strong analgesia and an ankle reduction (re-alignment), the woman was splinted and packaged for the long stretcher carry back to Seathwaite. As Keswick were initially short on numbers Cockermouth MRT kindly assisted with some additional muscle.
