The team received an emergency alert via the Garmin Response Centre sent from an InReach satellite device by two men who were walking above Lining Crag at the head of Greenup Gill. One of the men had been out hiking and camping in the fells for a few days and had been joined by his mate for the theoretical last night when he turned violently ill. Coast Guard assistance was requested due to the remote location and potentially serious medical nature of the callout. The team approached up the long and arduous valley of Greenup Gill with the fastest team members arriving shortly after the arrival of Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 199 from Prestwick. The casualty and his companion along with two team members were air lifted to Crow Park in Keswick where they were met by an NWAS ambulance that took the casualty to hospital.
