Sprinkling Tarn (101)

An Apple satellite text message reported a group of five 16 year-olds whose tent had succumbed to the weather while camping at Sprinkling Tarn. Seemingly the tent poles broke in the strong wind whilst trying to pitch it. A small team were deployed to retrieve them due to the ages reported. The youths informed the police they would start to walk down. Once in phone signal they were able to reply to the ‘Phone Find’ message which placed them close to Sty Head Tarn. The team met the tired but relatively well-equipped teenagers below the tarn and assisted them back to Seathwaite. The young men were brought back to Keswick base to dry out a little and to await the arrival of parents.
