Sharp Edge (124)

Callout Date: 01/09/2026
Callout Time: 7:07 pm
Agencies Involved: Keswick MRT

On a wet evening, the team were called out to assist two 18-year-old men who had crossed the majority of Sharp Edge but decided not to go up the final section of the scramble because of the conditions, choosing instead to attempt a descent via the steep gully—to the team this is known as the ‘Usual Gully’, an accident blackspot. During the descent, they took a small tumble but were uninjured. As they became stuck in a precarious position, they requested mountain rescue assistance. On arrival at Sharp Edge, the team rigged a rope system on the edge to extract them and escorted them safely off the mountain.
