A party of 5 walking on lake shore witnessed 3 persons on paddleboards having difficulty managing large waves and strong winds. The paddleboarders were seen to fall into the water but managed to get back on board but were not able to control the boards. The walkers were concerned for the safety of the paddle boarders and raised the alarm. Keswick team deployed multiple boats to the water from Derwentwater Marina, Lodore Jetty and Keswick Boat Landings.

The team along with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, conducted a comprehensive search of the lake, including eastern shore and all islands. NWAS ambulance was also in attendance to be able to provide medical assistance if required. Coastguard Helicopter R936 was also tasked but was unable to get in due to low cloud. No trace of the paddleboarders was found and believe they had returned to shore. This was a false alarm with good intent.
