Black Crag, Borrowdale (37)

Callout Time: 1:30 pm
Agencies Involved: Keswick MRT and Penrith MRT
Whilst climbing the classic rock route, Troutdale Pinnacle, a climber took a lead fall. Having negotiated the traverse on the fourth pitch, he fell onto the slabs below breaking both wrists. Unable to climb any further, other climbers were able to help secure him and his belay partner and call for help. Keswick team made their way to the top of the almost 100 metre high crag to rig a rope rescue system. A team member was lowered to the casualty where he was assessed, secured to the team member and they continued to the ground for further treatment and pain relief. His uninjured belayer was then reached by a second team member from above and safely lowered to the ground. We wish the climber a speedy recovery and hope the old friends are back out in the future.
Many thanks to the climbers on the on the crag who helped and Penrith Mountain Rescue Team for their assistance.
