The police were contacted by a person in a holiday cottage in Thelkeld over concerns about lights seen moving erratically on Blease Fell. Initial enquiries were unable to establish the nature and location of the lights, and so a team member who is a resident in Threlkeld, visited the informant and using binoculars managed to work out the location of the now stationary light. As a precautionary measure the team member walked up to investigate and found ‘wild’ campers who confirmed that all was well and no assistance was required.
