A 20 year old male slipped on ice on the summit of Blencathra severely injuring his ankle. Unable to move and in quite severe conditions they called for a rescue. The team approached up a stormy and snowy Scales Fell. A massive thank you to North West Air Ambulance who were able to land close by. Passers by helped with a stretcher carry from the summit to the helicopter whilst the team continued to approach due to the possibility that the helicopter could not take off in the changing conditions. Fortunately the weather improved and in a clear spell the helicopter was able to launch to take the casualty to hospital.
