Bram Crag Quarry (60)

Callout Date: 29/06/2023
Callout Time: 7:56 pm
Agencies Involved: Keswick MRT, NWAS

Tonight’s regular Thursday training was split into a mountain biking skills session and some ‘social climbing’ on Shepherd’s Crag. This was interrupted by a callout to a fallen climber on Bram Crag Quarry. It seems the piece of rock to which the bolt he was using came free (see photo) resulting in him falling some 10 metres to the ground. Team members who weren’t out practicing skills went immediately to the quarry followed by others who aborted their biking and climbing adventures to assist. NWAS paramedics were also quickly on scene and treated the casualty who had sustained head injuries. The climber was placed on a stretcher and carried to an awaiting ambulance for onward transfer to hospital.
