Three male friends were descending the steep pitched path on the side of Brown Cove Crags to Swirls car park having been to the top of Helvellyn when one of them stumbled and slipped on wet rocks. The stumbling fall of around 15m left this 24 year old with a badly broken ankle and a few cuts and bruises. Well done and thank you to the three women who stayed with the man and gave him extra clothes to help keep him warm. The team assessed the casualty and with the help of some strong analgesia reduced (realigned) the ankle to help prevent possible long term issues. The man was stretchered to the base of the mountain just as a North West Air Ambulance (many thanks for attending) helicopter arrived to take him to hospital for some urgent treatment.
