A request for assistance was received from Cockermouth MRT as many of their team were training in Ennerdale. A trail race runner had injured her ankle, at Scale Beck, on the shores of Crummock Water. Race medics along with the attending Cockermouth team members treated the woman’s ankle, and with help from Keswick she was stretchered, through a memorable section of thigh deep bog, back to Buttermere village. She was then transferred by ambulance to hospital for further checks and treatment.
