An 82 year old father and his son had set off from Dancing Gate with the intention of walking up the paths to the top of Dodd. The trail they were on became very steep just below a forest track and the man slipped over and wasn’t able to move up or down. Unable to help his father by himself the son called 999 and asked for Mountain Rescue help. The team were able to drive a Sprinter to where the path exits onto the forest track. The man was located around 40 feet below clinging to a tree root, where he had been since the call for help was made. Team members quickly made their way down to him and made him secure before attaching a rope to safeguard his extrication. The two were driven back to town where the words ‘pub’ and ‘drink’ were overheard!
