A fell walking couple climbed Blencathra via Blease Fell and started their descent down Halls Fell. Unfortunately, in poor visibility, they followed what they thought was the path down but instead lead away from the ridge down steep ground leading into Gate Gill. They felt unable to either proceed or retrace their steps so they asked for assistance. A small team was deployed to recover them. The pair were quickly located in the low cloud, and guided around the steep fell back onto the path on the lower part of Hall’s Fell from where they were able to continue their walk back to their car.
