Agencies Involved: Keswick MRT, Penrith MRT, Cumbria Police

A group of walkers requested help after being caught out by strong winds and wet conditions during an ascent of Blencathra. They described their position as on a ridge above Thelkeld but as they did not have maps or smart phones an accurate location could not be determined. As there are several ridges leading to the summit Keswick team initiated searches up the Hall’s Fell and Gategill Fell ridges. Fortunately the group, which included several children, were located at Knott Halloo on Gategill Fell. They were provided with warm clothing and heat blankets and walked down the hill. Many thanks to Penrith MRT who were on stand by in case the situation escalated.
