Mousthwaite Combe (62)
Incident No: 62 Date: 5th August 2015 Time: 13:49 Location: Blencathra, Mousthwaite Combe Incident Details: A member of the public telephoned police to say that he had seen a lady fall 500m from a path on Scales Fell. However, getting details as to the exact location took some minutes, as the Team could not recontact the informant. The Team sent one vehicle immediately to scout the area, and the members of that group soon saw that the accident was in fact in the top corner of Mousthwaite Combe, where a 70 year old German tourist had taken a 300ft tumbling fall down through the steep bracken, to land in a gully. She had suffered serious shoulder injuries. Further Team members arrived to assist. She was immobilised in a vacuum mattress, and then stretchered down through chest high bracken to rendezvous with the GNAS air ambulance. 11 Team members – 2 hour 23 minutes.
