A 65 year old man out for an early morning walk up the Gelderamackin Beck behind Mungrisedale slipped off the very narrow and crumbly path and tumbled towards the river badly gashing his head and injuring his back. Thanks to the local doctor who was first on the scene and had assessed the casualty by the time the team arrived. The man was given pain relief, bandaged up and stretchered across the stream and back down to Mungrisedale to an awaiting ambulance.
