A family was descending the path from Raven Crag when one of the party slipped and fell on loose ground. The woman felt a sharp pain in her lower leg and, unable to continue, her partner called for Mountain Rescue help. Fortunately the party were only a short way from the Thirlmere road and so the team were able to gain quick access. She was given pain relief and her leg splinted before before being stretchered the short distance to her car for transfer to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.
