Ruddy Gill (54)

Callout Date: 31/05/2025
Callout Time: 11:03 am
Agencies Involved: Keswick MRT, RAF Leeming MRT

In the first incident of what turned out to be a very long and busy day we were notified of a distress beacon being activated from a Duke of Edinburgh Award party ascending Ruddy Gill. The 17 year old female involved had dislocated her knee and was unable to weight-bear. A vacuum splint was used to immobilise the leg before loading the young woman onto a stretcher for the carry out. Being short on numbers we called upon RAF Leeming who were training in the area for some assistance. Three RAF team members made their way from Glaramara to meet us and help carry the casualty down to Seathwaite. During the descent we were alerted to the second callout of the day up at Sty Head Pass (callout 55).
