One of a party of four mountain bikers crashed on the descent from Skiddaw to Carlside, hurting his back and unable to move. A small Keswick team deployed, and with other team members on a job supporting Cockermouth MR help was requested from Penrith MR. Given the position of the casualty and nature of the injury Coastguard helicopter R199 also deployed. The injured man was assessed and packaged in a vac mat. As the cloud base was only just above the casualty location an impressive low level winch was carried out by R199 which then proceeded to hospital. Penrith MR were making good progress up the hill but were stood down once R199 had lifted.
