Skiddaw (73)
Callout Date: 12/07/2025
Callout Time: 2:08 pm
Agencies Involved: Keswick MRT, Coastguard helicopter R199
Temperatures were high even at the summit of Skiddaw. This unfortunately caused heat exhaustion – a potentially serious condition – in a woman who was part of a walking group. Her friends did a great job in shielding her from the sun and attempting to cool her down. Although she had stabilised it was necessary to evacuate her off the hill as soon as possible. A Keswick team member who was already on Skiddaw was able to quickly get to the casualty and support the rescue effort. Keswick team had deployed team vehicles but fortunately Coastguard helicopter R199 was in the area, landed close by and was able airlift the casualty to Crow Park in Keswick for further assessment by a team medic. Thankfully the woman had recovered and was able to make her own way home with her friends.
