A man who had been trying to walk from Stanah, near Thirlmere to Glenridding over Sticks Pass became exhausted and was making very slow progress. At around 4am he contacted the police asking for MR assistance as he was getting very cold from the heavy rain and strong winds. An attempt to guide him down over the phone and keep him moving proved unsuccessful so Keswick MRT sent out a small team. Once the man was located 100m off the path above Sticks Gill, it was clear he was becoming hypothermic. After providing warm clothing, food and hot drinks the team packaged him for a stretcher carry back to Stanah. He was taken to Keswick MRT base for a medical assessment and further warming before being discharged.
