During the weekly Thursday night training we had to abandon a really interesting talk from a guest speaker to attend an injured mountain biker on Ullock Pike. With many team members already assembled good progress was made in getting to the casualty location. The man had gone over the handlebars on the descent and badly injured his lower arm. As he was in a lot of pain strong analgesia was provided and the arm splinted. The man was stretched a short distance to await the arrival of Coastguard helicopter R897 from Carlisle, who airlifted the man to Crow Park in Keswick and an awaiting ambulance.
