On a dreich morning in the Borrowdale fells a group of Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition students had just met one of their supervisors above Watendlath when the supervisor slipped on the boggy ground and heard a crack in her ankle. Unable to continue the supervisor provided the students with a lesson in how to call out Mountain Rescue! The team approached from Watendlath, administered pain relief, splinted the ankle and stretchered the woman back to the road before transporting her back to base to rendezvous with an ambulance.
