A very competent 11 yr old mountain biker was enjoying the bike trails in Whinlatter Forest when he became separated from his parents and was unable to find his own way down. After failing to make phone contact with his mum and dad he sensibly called 999 to ask for assistance. A search was initiated with team members, police and staff from Cyclewise covering the various trails. The boy was found safe and well and escorted back down to the ranger’s office at Whinlatter Visitor Centre to rendezvous with his relieved and thankful parents.
