A 60 year old man walking with a group near Seatoller started to suffer chest pains and shortness of breath. Members of the group called 999 and asked for Mountain Rescue. A team was quickly dispatched to the site. Due to the potential seriousness of the incident GNAAS (Great North Air Ambulance Service) was also dispatched and arrived at the scene at the same time as the team. After being assessed by team doctors the man was able to be walked off the hill and down to a waiting land ambulance. The man was further assessed by the ambulance crew and discharged at the scene without needing further hospital treatment.
