Skye May 2022
At the end of May a party of team members visited the Isle of Skye for a week of mountain training and consolidation of skills. Our scrambling objective for day one proved too dangerous to approach due to swollen impassable streams so we opted to scramble up and along part of the Cuillin Ridge. The nine hour outing in incessant rain was a good test of team waterproofs which for the most part performed admirably.
Fortunately the rest of the week saw much better weather allowing us to experience some of the classic scrambles, climbs and scenery of the Black Cuillin. Highlights include Arrow Route on the Cioch including the obligatory sword fight on the top (for ‘Highlander’ film buffs), the amazing Dubh Slabs including boat ride from Elgol and return over the tops to Glenbrittle, rock climbing on the coast at Neist Point and Pinnacle Ridge on Sgurr nan Gillean. For those who couldn’t come they missed out on an excellent week of teamwork and fun but it’s sure to be repeated.
