The team was alerted by Cumbria Police after a group of four men became cragfast on the highly exposed ridge of Sharp Edge on Blencathra. The initial report indicated that one member of the party was suffering a severe panic attack. Due to the notoriously slick and polished nature of the slate terrain, the entire group was frozen and unable to move forward or retreat safely.
The team quickly deployed from Scales and ascended to the top of Blencathra. Upon reaching the summit plateau, a rope system was rigged and two team members were lowered to assess the anxious casualties. All four men were successfully safeguarded back to safe ground on the summit plateau before being advised of an easier, alternate walking route back to the valley.
