Members of Keswick MR team joined up with Patterdale and Cockermouth along with a few members from other Lakes teams in Cairngorm for a few days of winter training. Like last year, conditions were lean regarding snow depth but this did not diminish the enthusiasm and value of the exercises undertaken.
Day one was very Scottish battling 60mph+ winds and driving sleet with teams practicing winter skills. Day two had half of the members training with the Inverness Coast Guard helicopter, winching, hi-lines and general familiarisation. The other half were practicing medical scenarios, avalanche techniques including transceivers and probes. Day three was spent on the hill again with more medical scenarios and an afternoon to explore the mountains and practicing winter skills.
