An 81-year-old man slipped on wet rock during his descent off High Rigg and felt a sharp pain in his ankle. Unable to continue his friends dialled 999 and asked for Mountain Rescue help. The team deployed two vehicles to the area with other team members going direct. Team doctors were quickly able to assess the casualty and, suspecting a broken ankle, gave the man some pain relief before splinting the leg. He was then stretchered to one of the team vehicles and transported on to Keswick Cottage Hospital.
