A small Duke of Edinburgh Award group with teachers were walking at the back of Skiddaw when a male teenage pupil suffered severe cramp in both legs rendering him unable to continue. The team drove a Landrover up the Whitewater Dash track towards Skiddaw House to the casualty site. The group were brought down and taken to their own transport. The team were passed on the descent by a man on a mountain bike with a parrot on his shoulder. Many thanks to them for opening the gates.
