At 22:43 on Friday evening the team were alerted to a man who had reported himself cragfast somewhere above Beckthorns Farm in St John’s in the Vale. With only a rough location for the man, a team of 4 team members made their way up the fellside directed by his torch light. The man had descended from the bridleway along the Dodds into a steep field of bracken and gorse. He had also brought along his Brompton bike which he had intended to ride down from Clough Head. In the now complete darkness, on steep ground in thick bracken, and with his extra equipment, the man was stuck. The team fought their way through the gorse and eventually found the man, roped him up to descend to the roadside and helped him back to his car at Swirl’s car park.
