A mountain biker fell from his bike at speed onto rock/scree whilst descending from Skiddaw summit towards Carlside. Due to the potentially serious nature of the reported injuries assistance was requested from an air ambulance. We were very grateful that Helimed 08 from Blackpool was able to respond and arrived on scene around the same time as the first team members. After an assessment and some pain relief the casualty was able to slowly walk down with team members to the team vehicles on the col behind Dodd Wood. He was then driven down to the roadside where he was collected by his colleagues. The casualty and his friends were advised to seek further medical assistance should he feel his condition deteriorating.
